He moved to Paris in 1975 and was invited to teach in Zhejiang Academy of Fine Art (China Academy of art) at 1986, founded ‘Varbanov research tapestry center’.
In the countries with long weaving history --- Bulgaria and China, Wan Man developed the institute of modern textile, which is different from traditional concept. He educated a group of world-class textile artists, as well as encouraging the new-born modern art in China with his wisdom and passion.
As an international artist, Wan Man not only promoted modern textile art from the international scope, but also enlightened the creation of modern art in China Academy of Art. Wan Man brought the revolutionary ideas of modern textile art from nineteen sixty and seventy into academy and improved the creation field, brought out new researches on materials and shapes of art. On the other hand, he guided the attentions of art creation to the phenomena of city life’s consumption, created a series of works with obvious critique for post-industrial society, initiated an alternate art language and art form. The utilization of ‘soft material’ (palm, flax, elastic band, and etc. ) and ‘hard material’(metal, stone, and etc.) in his works not only shows that he is a creative artist but also inspires further understanding of art, nature and society.
