Hangzhou Triennial Of Fiber Art

For the first time the Bulgarian public can see works of students and followers of the school of Marin Varbanov, created in mid 1980-s in China. All of them are established and world famous artists with many contributions to the international exhibitions and forums, primarily in soft sculpture and spatial textiles, as skillfully experimenting with different materials and techniques and the possibilities for acquiring space, deeply rooted in tradition of Eastern culture and philosophy.

The exhibition is part of a project associated with 50 years from the establishing of Department of Textiles at the National Art Academy in Sofia city, which aims to honor the work of Marin Varbanov and its contribution to the development of modern textile art in Bulgaria and China.

The participants from the Bulgarian side in the exhibition are well known textile artists, teachers in the Department of Textiles at National Art Academy like Prof. Anna Boyadjieva, associate prof. Asadur Markarov, Verjinia Markarova PhD, Adelina Popnedeleva PhD, Tzveta Yavasheva. Chinese artists: Prof. Shi Hui, Prof. Zhu Wei, Prof. Shan Zeng, Liang Shao Ji, Huang Yan, Ying Xin Xun are teachers in China Academy of Art, Hangzhou City, China.

Hopefully this event is only the beginning of long and fruitful cooperation between the two, created by Professor Marin Varbanov studios and the audience will meet with attention, interest and love the art of Bulgarian and Chinese artists.
