Hangzhou Triennial Of Fiber Art

On the afternoon of the 12th of July, the introductory meeting for the inaugural 2013 Hangzhou Triennial of Fiber Art convened to great success. The Triennial’s organisers invited curator and visiting professor of the China Academy of Art (CAA) Assadour Markov to present an inspiring lecture to the Triennial’s volunteers in the exhibition space of the Zhejiang Art Museum. Professosr Markov clarified for all present the history of fiber art’s development; at the same time introducing plans for this cycle of the Triennial of Fiber Art.

The audience of this presentation were all volunteers from the Triennial of Fiber Art’s International Projects－ and Artistic Advisory Teams. Professor Markov had prepared resources relating to fiber art for all the volunteers, as well as conducting his presentation in Chinese. The volunteers were presented with a large number of images depicting art works, combined with Professor Markov’s own enlightening commentaries. All of this contributed significantly to the volunteers’ understanding of “Fiber Art” and the pending Triennial exhibition. Following the presentation, all those present engaged in discussions with Professor Markov, finishing the day’s events on a positive note.
