Attractions
•West Lake is the lake of Hangzhou, a national scenic area with beautiful landscape and rich cultural heritage. It is surrounded by mountains on three sides, with an area of around 6.5 square kilometers. There are a lot of tourist attractions around the lake, which are of significant artistic and cultural values. West Lake was selected into the World Heritage list by UNESCO in 2011.
•China National Silk Museum is located in Hangzhou, close to the West Lake. It is the first and also the biggest nation-level silk museum in China. Inside the museum, there is a permanent exhibition telling the whole story of silk such as its origin, development, function, etc. they also have a strong research team dedicated in the identification and conservation of the ancient Chinese textiles.
•Xiangshan Campus of China Academy of Art is located in the suburb of Hangzhou. It covers an area of 573,333 square meters with over 20 buildings among green mountains and blue waters. It is such remarkable architecture that brought its designer Wang Shu, professor and head of CAA’s architecture school the Pritzker Prize in 2012. There is Department of Textile in this campus which has a student’s body of about 300 from B.A to Ph.D.
•Hefang Street is the most famous street in the history of Hangzhou. After being through hundreds of years, it has become the symbol of the culture and history of the city.
•Wuzhen is an ancient water town with venerated history and fertile culture. It became a national tourist area(Xizha&Dongzha) in 2001. Now the Dongzha area is under reconstruction and only the Xizha area is open to the visitors. It is showing the ancient culture and life style to the guests from all over the world and is a very good choice to appreciate the ancient water town in the south of Yangtze River.
•The new Suzhou Museum is designed by the world known architect Leoh Ming Pei, open to the public since 2006. It adopts the essence of the traditional Chinese
garden architecture, but develops it to have brought it to a new level.
•Lanliyuan Embroidery Research Center is so far the biggest embroidery research center in China. Inside the center, there are exhibition halls and workshops for
visitors to admire the exquisite and elegant traditional Chinese embroidery, and also to observe its special producing process.
•The Lingering Garden is among the top 4 traditional gardens in China which fully reflects the art and aesthetics of the classic Chinese garden architecture.
•In Hangzhou, there are some other cultural attractions for you to visit like Zhejiang Museum, the West Lake Art Museum.etc.
